A house turned into a home

I was grown up in a joint family in a small home. We were three brothers and two sisters. My father and his brother lived in the same house on different floors. So the family was quite big, but our small home had enough space to accommodate everyone comfortably with love.

But as you know, when kids grow up, they need privacy. As you grow older, living in a 2 BHK with small size rooms, a washroom, a kitchen, and a living area is not easy. Five siblings sharing 1 bedroom was one of our biggest problems. And whenever guests came over, space issues in our home used to become limitless.

It was my elder sister's wedding when I realized we seriously needed a new home, as adjusting to this small home wasn't possible anymore. I loved my house dearly, but I was scared that lack of space might cause disputes between siblings. I decided to have a home that could be more spacious to give us a better life to live without compromising our privacy or relationships.

Soon after the wedding, I decided to talk to my parents about my thought of having a new home. They were against it initially but agreed to my request and said first they would get my other sister married, and then they would look for a new home for us.

But once he made up his mind to give a better life to his kids, he put all his heart into finding a floor that could easily accommodate us and have enough space that we face no problem even after marriage.

When he failed to find floors for three of us brothers, he bought barren land and built a home of our choice. We quickly found land almost twice the size of our existing home. We started building our home on it and decided to have three floors, one for each brother.

My father ensured every floor was made according to our needs and wishes. It took nearly 1 year and 8 months to finish the construction, and then we had our Griha Pravesh Puja. By then, my elder brother was also engaged, and we were excited to host his wedding festivities in our new home.

My mom was so happy that she got emotional looking at the new home made for her sons. The major task was to furnish our home, and it was challenging to move out of our old home because it had so much luggage that shifting looked very challenging.
